The fonds is comprised of photographs documenting the activities and concerns of the west coast fishing industry: fishing boats, fishing and fish processing, fish plants and canneries, special events related to the promotion of fish products, Adams River sockeye runs, traditional First Nations fisheries, sports fishing, research on salmon, salmon habitat destruction, and hatchery and fishways construction and operations. The pictures were taken all along the British Columbia coast from the San Juan fishing grounds on southwestern Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert. Included are photographs taken at salmon producing lakes and rivers in the interior of British Columbia. Some of the photographs originated at food shows in Europe and the Tokyo wholesale fish market. The fonds includes 12 films with fishing related topics plus a small amount of textual material related to the photographs.

The fonds consists of the records and documents of the Lytton Water Supply Company Ltd., from 1911-1930, 1940 and 1947. Includes company minutes and financial records which outline the company's internal administration and community activities. The last minutes in this book are dated June 6, 1930, and this is the only book which has surfaced so far. This book also includes the list of shareholders and their 'shares' history, and the list of directors from Nov. 6, 1914 to 1949.

Collection consists of video history interviews with park pioneers, as well as some events, created by EKOS Communications in partnership with the Elders Council for Parks of British Columbia commemorate the 100th anniversary of BC Parks in 2011.

The Elders Council is an independent society, whose members are retired parks system employees and conservation advocates who have dedicated a significant portion of their lives to parks and protected areas in BC. These interviews served as source material for the documentary BC Parks: Celebrating 100 Years of Recreation and Protection.

EKOS Communications first launched in 2005 as ekostv.com with the goal of creating Canada's first independent new media channel. ekostv was re-envisioned in 2007 as EKOS Communications, Inc. which providing environmental education and communication services. Clients included Parks Canada, BC Parks, Natural Resources Canada, Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, Metro Vancouver, and Union of BC Municipalities. EKOS Communications’ services included project management, video production, audio production, web design and development, community animation, group process and facilitation, research and writing, communications strategy, communications consultation, environmental education, curriculum design, development and evaluation.

In December 2010, EKOS Communications Inc. dissolved and was re-formed as EKOS Communications under the sole proprietorship of creator, president and executive producer Rick Searle. As of April 2011, other chief officers of EKOS Communications included Creative Director/Writer Starr Munro, Editor/Shooter Richard Fulop, and Webmaster Prarie Blake. EKOS Communications’ stated mission is “to assist with the rapid advancement of ecological literacy and sustainability through environmental education and communication;” “Combining video, audio, animation, and print with new media innovations, EKOS Communications connects people more deeply with each other to work together for the betterment of the planet.”

Standard questions were used in most of the interviews and included dates of employment/association with BC Parks, parks worked in, greatest challenges, accomplishments and regrets, lessons learned, hopes for provincial park system today and mentors.

South Grindrod Drainage District

Fonds is arranged into four series and consists of aerial photographs and negatives, paper maps, and overlay. Majority of photographs are black and white. Color photographs date between 1989 and 1990. A separate collection is arranged for use by silverculturists dating between 1984 and 1990. Photographs are color. Aerial photographs were taken by the Department of National Defense and later by the British Columbia government. Fonds includes air photograph map indices. These map indices show flight line location and numbering of aerial photos taken between 1952 and 1994. Fonds also includes forestry district overlays; enlarged aerial negatives and photos; map mosaics; recreation maps of areas from Chase to Revelstoke to Oyama, BC; grazing area permits and licenses on crown land; and Federated Co-Operative Operational Cut Block Plans.

Journalist Peter Stursberg interviewed Hugh Keenleyside as part of an oral history project for the Parliamentary Library and the National Archives of Canada. Dr. Keenleyside was a former chair of the B.C. Power Commission and played an important role in the development of hydroelectric power in B.C.

The collection consists of three files containing the complete transcripts of two interviews.

The fonds consists of records generated by the operation of the Brunswick Cannery on Canoe Pass from 1897 to 1926, under the ownership of the Brunswick Cannery Company, and after 1902, under the ownership of the British Columbia Packers Association and British Columbia Fishing and Packing Company Ltd. The fonds also includes records belonging to the Anglo American Canning Company Ltd. probably because the company's president, Francis Griffin Bell, became the manager of Brunswick Cannery for the Association in 1902. The fonds includes licenses, contracts, financial and fishermen's records generated by daily operations, plant inventories, and correspondence. The records are not complete. The records reflect its operation as a branch of the British Columbia Packers Association and therefore give insight into the operation of the Association. The fonds has been arranged into 9 series: annual reports, correspondence, financial records, fishermen's records, Francis G. Bell family records, legal records, miscellaneous material, personnel records, and plant inventories.
