Garland, Abner N., d. 1972Series consists of materials pertaining to the Aboriginal Gathering Place, which opened in April 2011 at the College's New Westminster campus. The Aboriginal Gathering Place is a venue for hosting traditional ceremonies, potlucks, and meetings. When not holding events, it is a quiet space to study, meditate, and meet fellow students.
In addition to proposal documents and a program for the space's grand opening (January 2012), this series also includes some records related to services for Indigenous students in the 1990s.

Vancouver Community College. Academic CouncilThe fonds consists of records generated by the Academic Council and its predecessor, the Academic Board of Higher Education. The fonds includes records created by the chairman and director of the council and by the Enrollment Forecasting Committee. It also includes records submitted by the boards of various regional colleges and provincial institutes. The records have been retained in the government records (GR) accession units in which they were received by the BC Archives. Types of records include minutes, correspondence outward, policy papers, committee and research reports including a series of reports on the post-secondary system, and data books showing funding and enrolment levels in provincial post-secondary institutions.
Academic Council of British ColumbiaFonds consists of records of the Academic Planner for SFU. Fonds includes, correspondence, policies, reference material, and other materials. Materials relate to the formation of University policies, the appointment of University faculty and staff, the dissemination of information regarding SFU through various media outlets, and other functions.
Academic Planning OfficeThe fonds consists of records made or received or inherited by Academic Planning Services in the course of its activities. Activities documented include the operations of the the Academic Planning Committee (predecessor of the Senate Committee on Academic Planning), external reviews of university departments, new academic program proposals, and SFU's participation in TRIUMF (the particle accelerator facility located at the University of British Columbia and operated jointly by a number of Canadian universities). Records include meeting agendas, minutes and support papers, and external review reports and related documentation. For more detailed descriptions of record types, see individual series descriptions.
Note that many of the records were created before the establishment of Academic Planning Services and were inherited by the unit: all of series 1 (Academic Planning Committee), many files in series 2 (External reviews), all of series 3 (TRIUMF correspondence), and some of series 4 (General correspondence). Note also that the only records post-dating Alison Watt's tenure as Director (1990-1996) are found in series 2 (External reviews).
