The Engineering Department is responsible for the provision of engineering services related to fire protection such as providing water for fire hydrants, opening floodboxes, and positioning and installing fire signals. The Department was also responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of fire halls. The majority of this series is comprised of general files which cover a broad range of topics and intiatives including: the adoption of a British Columbia Fire Code Regulation, the findings of a Fire Underwriters survey, the preparation of fire fighting budgets, the monitoring the issuance of fire permits, the enforcement of fire regulations, negotiating for the construction and equiping of new fire halls, and the renovation and retrofitting of existing fire halls.
