Fonds consists mainly of photographs, ca. 1900 to 1966, of the C.H. Carnwath family and the W.S. Anderson family and their friends participating in various sporting and social activities. Also included are exteriors and interiors of houses, nurses at Vancouver General Hospital and group and individual portraits. Other materials include correspondence, high school certificates, 1912-1921, property records, 1920s, genealogies and newspaper clippings concerning family members.

There are also scrapbooks, photographs and clippings. Photographs depict family life, travels and Banfield's public life as a Rotarian, a civic official and a trustee at Vancouver General Hospital. The fonds consists of records of Dr. Dick relating to his medical education, practice and teaching career, his professional activities with various medical and health bodies, his community service activities, and his lectures, papers and publications on a variety of medical and health topics. Fonds includes resumes, testimonials and letters of reference, certificates, correspondence, and reports relating to Dr. Dicks work in private practice and at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine, Vancouver General Hospital, the Vancouver Medical Association, the British Columbia Medical Association, the British Columbia Alcohol and Drug Commission, the Vancouver City Police Medical Advisory Committee, the British Columbia Medical Library Service, and the Vancouver Epilepsy Centre. Fonds also includes records of Dr. Dicks activities with the Boy Scouts of Canada (20th Vancouver B Troop) and with the Glasgow University Graduates Association relating to Sir Hector Hetherington. Fonds also includes records relating to his advocacy on a variety of health and social issues, as well as his associations with many colleagues and friends. Fonds includes personal and family photographs of Dr. Palmer. Records consist primarily of papers, research notes, essays, letters-to-the-editor, correspondence with colleagues, and copies of reprints and other publications of Dr. Palmer. The fonds is arranged in six series: 1) Biographical; 2) Education, training and certification; 3) Professional and academic experience; 4) Professional associations and service; 5) Public and community service; and, 6) Publications and manuscripts. Biographical records include a set of various curriculum vitae and annual biographical data sheets, autobiographical manuscripts, early letters of reference, media coverage of Dr. Segal's activities, files relating to his awards and honours, photographs, and a drawing. The "Education, training and certification" series includes: undergraduate and graduate records (including those of extracurricular student activities) at McGill University, Queen's University, and the University of British Columbia; records of certification by various medical colleges and councils; records of internship and residency at Vancouver General Hospital; and, records of graduate fellowships with the University of British Columbia, the National Research Council of Canada, Boston Lying-in Hospital, Children's Medical Centre (Boston), Harvard Medical School, and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. The "Professional and academic experience" series includes administrative and teaching records, records of committee work and research projects, and records of conference participation (including papers delivered) while holding appointments with the Department of National Health and Welfare (Indian Health Services), the Vancouver General Hospital (Health Centre for Children), Sunny Hill Hospital (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Program), the University of British Columbia (Department of Paediatrics), the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (Bethesda, Maryland), and other bodies as visiting professor or consultant.
