The collection consists of photographs depicting Kwakwaka'wakw people in Alert Bay and on Vancouver Island from Fort Rupert in the north to Comox in the south. Collection includes photographs of individuals, families, village scenes, community activities, industry (primarily fishing), and of students at St. Michael's Residential School at Alert Bay.

The collection consists of video tapes depicting aspects of the lives of Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwagiulth) peoples on Vancouver Island from Fort Rupert in the north to Comox in the south. Videotapes document community events, cultural activities (including potlatches), and origin myths of Kwakwaka'wakw villages and include interviews pertaining to family histories.
