The collection consists of 1887 to 1992 photographs of Oliver and area, including the two former gold mining towns of Camp McKinney and Fairview These images depict schools and classes, social and sporting activities, rodeos, parades, picnics, dances, ranches, logging, mining, irrigation system and workers of the Southern Okanagan Lands Project, fruit industry, tobacco growing, the Canadian Pacific Railway trains and station, local scenes, and early residents and buildings.

The fonds consists of minutes, correspondence, financial records, managers' diaries, operations files, maps and plans, and field books pertaining to the Southern Okanagan Lands Irrigation District (also known as SOLID), 1871 to 1990. Includes field books, copies of early land surveys (1871-1908), maps and plans, and scrapbooks initially begun by the Southern Okanagan Lands Project and continued by SOLID.
