Florence Gruchy photographs

Series consists of records relating to Florence Gruchy (sister of Lydia Gruchy) and her experiences living in India as a part of the Women’s Missionary Society. Records include photographs, as well as some textual materials (primarily notes) and artwork.

Series consists of records relating to publications such as books, essays and articles written both by and about Rev. Lydia Gruchy including the graduation thesis of Lydia Gruchy, multiple articles and biographies, interviews, and a school yearbook.

Audio and video recordings

Series consists of videocassette and audiocassette records relating to interviews relating to Lydia Gruchy, her life and story as told in interviews and church broadcasts. These cassettes are copies, with original records held elsewhere.

Series consists of records relating to church extension (i.e. the establishment and development of congregations in new areas, usually without a previous congregation). Some records relate to church-related corporations and societies, such as camps and seniors homes. Document types include grant applications, application for loans, agreements to repay, building fund and stewardship documentation, property records, correspondence, design and architectural plans, church photographs, and other financial information such as mortgage and insurance records.

Series consists of photographs relating to Max Warne’s 90th birthday and contribution of violin music at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church (Vancouver).

Photographs of churches

Series consists of photographs of church buildings pertinent to the work of Church Extension Council and Home Missions.

Church extension – general

Series consists of records relating to various pastoral charges, at a more superficial level than the Church extension and property development files series. Series also consists of records relating generally to the work of the Council for Church Extension. Includes orders of service, correspondence, and minutes.

Series consists of records relating to a variety of subjects pertinent to Max Warne’s work as Home Missions Superintendent. Series also includes operational records relating to the supervision of student ministers and the establishment of the Bethshan seniors home in Cloverdale. Includes correspondence, minutes, reports, and published materials (e.g. brochures).

Fraser Presbytery minutes and correspondence

Series consists of records relating strictly to Fraser Presbytery, which Max Warne helped establish through his church extension work, and with which he identified most strongly throughout most of his career. Includes annotated copies of minutes and correspondence.

BC Conference reports

Series consists of reports and agendas for meetings of BC Conference. Includes reports for all BC Conference Committees, but primarily Home Missions and Church Extension.

Writings

Series consists of a draft of Stott’s semi-fictional account of life in the Cariboo in the early 20th century.

Student notes

Series consists of a notebook relating to a course on New Testament criticism, which he was likely enrolled in at Knox College, Toronto.

Conference and General Council leadership records

Series consists of records relating to Harrison’s work for The United Church of Canada as BC Conference President and as a member of General Council committees and task groups. Includes reports, correspondence, and speaking notes.

Teaching and worship materials

Series consists of records relating to Harrison’s teaching and worship leadership activities at the Vancouver School of Theology. Includes lecture notes, sermons, and orders of service.
