The collection includes material relating to Alert Bay that was created or collected by Thomas and Mildred Laurie, as well as photographs and textual records created or received by James Barclay Williams, who bequeathed the records to Mildred Laurie. The collection includes a photo album, photographs, postcards, correspondence, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and a calendar. Photographs document Alert Bay and the surrounding area, including the B.C. Packers store, Christ Church, the native cemetery, St. Michael’s Residential School and Preventorium, Canada Packers, Hardy Bay, totem poles, a long house, and the Nimpkish Hotel. Photographs also document local events, including potlatches, weddings, an outdoor salmon barbeque, BC centenary celebrations in 1958, native ceremonies, and a visit by the Governor General.

McPherson, KathrynThe collection consists of 9 photographs and copies of photographs showing scenes of Prince Rupert and area, groups of townspeople, a stone totem pole at Metlakatla, and a man poling a dug-out canoe probably on the Skeena River. It includes two newspaper clippings, one from the BC Saturday Sunset dated September 14, 1912 and another from The Globe dated Saturday March 23, 1907. The bound volumes of the Prince Rupert Empire newspaper were transferred to Special Collections. See accompanying note.
Prince Rupert Drydock and ShipyardThe collection consists of photographs that were collected by Francis and Lily Brown when they lived in Prince Rupert from 1911 to 1917. Some of the photographs are originals, some are postcards and others are copies of the originals still held by the family. The photographs include scenes such as Crippen Cove, the arrival of the Duke of Connaught on the Princess Alice in September 1912, blasting of areas for expanding the city, 3rd Avenue in 1911 and the arrival of the first train from Winnipeg in 1914.
Brown, F.R.C. (family)The collection consists of photographs of the Agassiz-Harrison area depicting individuals, families, businesses, industry (particularly farming and logging), events (including the 1948 Fraser River Flood), community associations, schools, and general scenes.
The fonds consists of digital photographs selected and scanned by the Hollyburn Heritage Society. The photographs relate to people, places, and events on Hollyburn Ridge. The Riverview Hospital Historical Society collection consists of the records collected and maintained by the Riverview Hospital Historical Society (RHHS). Through their museum and library, the RHHS acquired and stewarded records documenting the history of Riverview Hospital, the British Columbia School of Psychiatric Nursing, and the history of psychiatric care in British Columbia.
The collection consists of a range of documentary forms, including: reports, theses, newspaper clippings, newsletters, publications, correspondence, manuals, plans and drawings, directories, inventories, procedures, programmes, annuals, invitations, motion pictures, personal narratives, staff lists, minutes, study notes, scrapbooks, ephemera, and photographs depicting aspects of social and administrative life at the hospital and school.

British Columbia. School of Psychiatric NursingThe collection consists of colour photographs and negatives of the Miss Coquitlam Pageant and related events from 1986 to 1988. The photographs feature the donor, Deborah Smyth, who was Miss Congeniality in 1986. The collection also includes some news clippings and a VHS tape containing a recording of the 1986 Miss Coquitlam Pageant.
This collection consists of photocopied documents, mainly from the colonial period, relating to Comox District history. Dr. Pritchard organized the material into ten groupings and prefaced each with an introduction and remarks on the historical value of the documents.

Duffus, AlistairThe collection consists of photographs of individuals, families, scenery and buildings in the Armstrong-Spallumcheen area.
The collection consists of photographs and postcards of a wide range of people, buildings, locales, and events associated with Bowen Island. These include a large number of images of: the Bowen Island Inn resort complex and ships operated by the Terminal Steam Navigation Company and later, the Union Steamship Company; churches; ferry launches operated by the Sannie Transportation Company; members of many island families; beach activities; school activities; sports; picnics; tent camping; logging; ferries; and, local areas such as Snug Cove, Deep Bay, Miller's Landing, Cowan's Point, Tunstall Bay and Hood Point.
The collection consists of 76 reel tapes and 56 cassette tapes of interviews with 233 pioneers of the Arrow Lakes area and 5 volumes of transcripts. An inventory of the oral history project includes the name and occupation of the interviewee, the date of the interview, and the area discussed. The interviews were conducted by Milton Parent over a period of 25 years.

Collection consists of records and photographs from activities of Tiny Tots and recreation classes taught by Margaret Blain at the Civic Centre on Second Avenue. Includes notes, the Civic Centre's Bylaws revised 6 Aug 1946, correspondence, a Pro-Rec Centres bulletin, membership cards, Civic Centre Program Bulletins, program lists, a Civic Centre leaders' handbook, book of enrollment, and attendance for programs. Photographs include the civic centre building, gymnastics, tiny tots, and staff including Don Forward, Neil Ross, Bob Moore, and Jack McIntosh. Other photographs depict Norman Baker and Emile Blain, Margaret's husband, and Emile and another employee inside Blain Brothers Grocers at 837 2nd Ave. West. Ephemera consists of a Prince Rupert General Hospital feeding schedule for Barbara Blain, a Reid's Holiday Tog. Ltd. for Miss M. Slin, a Pro-Rec winter schedule from 1946-1947, and a birth form from the Prince Rupert General Hospital, dated June 21, 1950.
Blain, MargaretThe Indo-Canadian Oral History Collection documents the histories of immigrants from the Punjab Province of India who came to Canada between 1912 and 1938. The project was initiated by Hari Sharma, Professor of Sociology at SFU, who conducted the interviews with the assistance of a graduate student.
The interview subjects, primarily Sikhs, discuss such topics as why they came to Canada, the journey to Canada, adjustment to Canadian society upon arrival, employment in Canada, family life, and their ongoing links with their country of origin. Appendices include an interview guide prepared by Hari Sharma and an article about the project.
Sharma, HariFrom 1979-1981 the University Archives collected historical information on the Indo-Canadian Community in British Columbia with a view towards acquiring records in this area. The Archives prepared a bibliography, and made copies of relevant material. According to Professor Hugh Johnston, the collection contains a fairly complete set of all articles written up to 1980 about Indo-Canadians in BC. The Archives also acquired some photographs from the community. Since the conclusion of the project, the Archives has shifted its primary acquisition focus away from ethnic collections.
Collection consists of photocopied magazine articles, theses, books, reports, newspaper clippings and other secondary sources about Indo-Canadians. The information is primarily about the Sikh community, but there is also some material on Hindu immigrants. There is one file of photographic prints and negatives.
Collection also contains one file of correspondence with Ray Hundle, who corresponded with the University Archives regarding his research on the possible establishment of a Sikh temple in Golden, BC in 1880.
Material is in Punjabi and English.
Archives and Records Management DepartmentCollection was developed by the Rev. John Goodfellow, an amateur church historian who also served on the BC Conference Archives and Historical Committee from 1925 to 1950.
