The fonds consists of eleven series of records comprising textual and photographic material generated over the course of Golden Stanley's lifetime as well as some of his parents' records dating back to the early Twentieth Century. The organization of this material reflects Golden Stanley's strong belief in classifying and cataloguing material by subject, with some of it also arranged by form and function. However, original order is difficult to fully ascertain, given the small amount of material and his tendancy to file some of his own records in the archives' subject files. Series include: biology and botany material, chemistry notebooks, diaries, Esperanto material, Herman Leisk archaeology material, James C. Stanley material, music, notebooks, scouting, scrapbooks, writings, photographs, miscellaneous record books, and other miscellaneous material.

Dr. Strand was Acting President of Simon Fraser University from August 1968 to September 1969, and was President of the University from September 8, 1969 to September 1974. The interview was conducted by Gordon Harby, a former student of Simon Fraser University. Mr Hardy first interviewed Dr. Strand for the "The Peak" when Dr. Strand was named Acting President in 1968. This interview was conducted for the Alumni Magazine, "Afterthoughts." The interview is on Side A of the cassette tape. It is approximately 45 minutes long. Unfortunately the interview ends rather abruptly in mid-sentence, because the tape ended. Side B of the tape contains a short (about 10 minutes) interview of Grodon Hardy by the Library Assistant for Archives. This interview provides some background on Mr. Hardy's interview with Dr. Strand. Both interviews were conducted in offices, and consequently the background noise and interrruptions detract from the interview. The transcript of the interview is available. A full description is available in the hard copy version of the finding aid maintained in the Archives Reading Room.
