The fonds consists of the specifications for a courthouse to be erected on the block bounded by Georgia, Hornby, Howe and Robson Street, for the Provincial Government of B.C., to be built in conformity with drawings prepared by F.M. Rattenbury of Victoria. Included are general conditions in contracting for the building. There is also the specification, issued by the Inspector of Electrical Energy, from the Court House in Vancouver, for installation of transformers and secondary wiring, lighting and a silo motor, at Colony Farm, Essondale. Tenders were submitted to the Minister of Public Works, Victoria.

The fonds consists of weekly reports (1932-1933) of the district engineer/superintendent concerning work relief camps in B.C.; records of redemption vouchers (with name of recipients) (1933-1934); bed tickets and cancelled cheques (1928-1940) for relief work; monthly statements of camp costs; and personnel reports for relief camps.

The fonds consists of records generated by the Dept. of Public Works, its subordinate branches, divisions and agencies, while fulfilling its mandate of construction and maintenance of government buildings, public roads, bridges and other public works. The fonds includes records created by the minister and deputy minister, the chief architect, and the public works engineer. The records have been retained in the government records (GR) accession units in which they were received by the BC Archives. The fonds includes correspondence, memoranda, reports, architectural proposals and consultants reports, tender forms, schedules, contracts, specifications, plans, insurance policies, payroll sheets, maps, pamphlets, and brochures.

The fonds consists of contracts and blueprints. Included is a contract between the Minister of Public Works, the Honourable Thomas Taylor, and Solomon Cameron of the Westholme Lumber Company (January 11, 1909) of Prince Rupert to build plank roadways and sidewalks. Also included is a contract between the Department of Public Works and the Grant Bros. Company of Vancouver (February 8, 1909) for the completion of sewerage works (sewers, drains, and manholes) at Prince Rupert, BC. Blueprints for the sewer project are included as well.
