Art Gallery office files

Series consists of office records created by the Richmond Art Gallery. Records document policy development, facility planning and participation in various City and community committees. Series includes correspondence relating to the development of an acquisition policy, correspondence outlining agreements between the Art Gallery and the Gateway Theatre, records relating to building planning for the Richmond Library and Cultural Centre, records relating to strategies for developing a common vision for the Library and Cultural Centre, and records relating to the Community Services Leadership Group. Also included are 4 architectural drawings of the proposed Library and Cultural Centre, and photographs documenting the construction of the Centre and the Art Gallery's transition into its new location. Photographs were likely taken by members of the Richmond Photography Club, with whom Page Hope-Smith, former Art Gallery director, was the primary liaison.

The bulk of the series consists of files created for parks, cultural and recreation facilities (e.g., Richmond Arena, Garry Point Park, Nature Park, Gateway Theatre, Richmond Arts Centre/Museum and Archives), clubs and associations (e.g., Swim Club, Minor Football, and Girls Softball Association), and societies, councils, committees and commissions (e.g., Recreation Advisory Council, Leisure Services Advisory Council, Gateway Theatre Society, Community Arts Council of Richmond, Steveston Historical Society, and Parks and Recreation Commission). Series also includes files created for particular studies and special events (e.g., Accessibility study, B.C. Minoru Chapel registers

Series consists of ceremonial "Chapel registers for marriages", which record wedding ceremonies at Minoru Chapel (1973-2004). These registers are not official marriage registers for civil purposes but contain information (sometimes incomplete) of names of married partners, addresses, birthplaces, occupations, parents, witnesses, and clergyman. Series includes two visitors/guest books (1968-1973, 1983-1988).

Individual files include contracts, activity logs, maintenance records, correspondence, and building plans. Included are records relating to the planning, development and operation of city parks, school and neighbourhood recreational areas, nature parks and areas, and beach parks. Richmond Museum and Archives heritage files

Series consists of files created by the Richmond Museum and Archives in the mid-1980s to document and provide easy reference to information about heritage buildings and sites in Richmond. Series is arranged alpha-numerically by area or street address and consists primarily of completed heritage inventory forms and copies of municipal records, newspaper clippings, and other historical reference information relating to specific buildings, areas, or building locations in Richmond.

Series consists of minutes, correspondence, memos, reports and other supporting documentation relating to the planning and production of the 1994 Commonwealth Games bid for Richmond. Includes minutes, reports, budgets, promotional material, and administrative records of the Games Committee; media clippings; published copies of the final bid books and supplement; and, a video presentation about Richmond prepared for the bid. Series also includes a file on the annual Richmond garden competition.
