        History

The Eureka Lodge #50 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows received its charter in Enderby on June 15, 1905. Signing members were William Mack, John Gaylord, Roy Wheeler, William Allen and Andrew Paul. The objectives of the society were to promote social and fraternal spirit among the members and to oversee social and benevolent work in the community. The fraternal order's motto is Friendship, Love and Truth. Eureka Lodge #50 worked closely with its sister organization Olive Rebekah Lodge #44 to sponsor eye research and eye banks, provide student bursaries, support local health services and support community projects. Eureka Lodge #50 was joined by members from Salmon Arm in 1978, and in 2004 the lodge disbanded.
