    Biographical history

The Auxiliary was formed in 1954 as an extension of the Lake Cowichan United Church Women. Its purpose was to unite all women of the congregation for the total mission of the church to provide a medium through which they could express their loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service. They held bake sales, bridge tournaments, etc. to raise money for missions, manse funds, Lake Cowichan United Church and gifts. The Auxiliary ceased in 1961, probably due to low membership.

    Custodial history

The records were kept by the donor, Edith Walker, who was a member of the Auxiliary, and given to the archives in 1986.

    Scope and content

The fonds consists of documents relating to the ongoing business of the Auxiliary. Fonds consists of 4 series and includes minutes, financial records, correspondence and printed material.
