    Biographical history

Anton Henderson was born in Skodborg, Denmark, in 1853. In 1874, Henderson left Denmark for North America where he worked his way across the United States before arriving in Esquimalt in 1880. After a few years spent in the Interior of British Columbia, Henderson returned to Victoria at which time he married Ellen Orr. From 1883 to 1906, Henderson was superintendent of the Victoria Transfer Company, a taxi company. In 1893, and between 1907 and 1909, Henderson also served on the Council of the Saanich Municipality. Ellen Henderson died in 1942 and Anton died in 1950. They had three children and a number of grandchildren. Their son Anton Jr. worked as a draftsman for the City of Victoria Engineering Department in the early 1910s. Their second daughter Anna Mathilda was born in 1886 and died in 1969.
