This series consists of assorted materials collected for reference purposes by the Riverview Hospital Historical Society and originally acted as a reference library when the Society ran its museum. It contains publications, clipped articles, studies, DVDs, transcripts, and pamphlets. In addition to its reference collection, the series contains a subseries of the scholarly communications and theses arising from research undertaken at Riverview Hospital. Many publications are originals; however this series also consists of copies of articles.

The fonds consists of certificate of incorporation, bylaws, constitution, leases and property records, minutes (1905-1943), and motion of cessation.

Fonds contains records pertaining to the separate careers and personal lives of both Verna Huffman Splane and Richard Splane, and their life together as a couple. Work records reflect Richard’s work in Alberta, his time in the RCAF, and his lengthy career in the federal government as well as Verna’s work for WHO, the federal government, and as a faculty member at UBC and the University of Victoria. These records include government reports, meeting minutes and agenda, correspondence, articles, course outlines and notes. Personal records reflect both Richard and Verna’s social lives and interest in social welfare outside of their careers. These records include correspondence, curriculum vitae, photographs (print and digital), notes, articles and publications, meeting minutes and agenda, and certificates.
The records reflecting Richard and Verna’s joint life has been arranged into eight series: Chief Nursing Officers Study, Home and Social Life, Personal Correspondence, University Hill Congregation, Social Welfare Work, Honours and Awards, Photographs, and Audio-visual. The fonds also includes two sous-fonds: the Richard Beverly Splane sous-fonds and the Verna Huffman Splane sous-fonds.

The Rikki Swin Institute transgender collection consists of the following fonds: Rikki Swin Institute fonds, Ari Kane fonds, International Foundation for Gender Education (IFGE) fonds, and the Virginia Prince fonds. The IFGE fonds includes material from Betty Ann Lind and Merissa Sherrill Lynn.

This series consists of records related to the administration and operation of Riverview Hospital as well as some of the official events and programs organized by the hospital. The series is arranged in two subseries:

The Riverview Hospital Historical Society collection consists of the records collected and maintained by the Riverview Hospital Historical Society (RHHS). Through their museum and library, the RHHS acquired and stewarded records documenting the history of Riverview Hospital, the British Columbia School of Psychiatric Nursing, and the history of psychiatric care in British Columbia.

The collection consists of a range of documentary forms, including: reports, theses, newspaper clippings, newsletters, publications, correspondence, manuals, plans and drawings, directories, inventories, procedures, programmes, annuals, invitations, motion pictures, personal narratives, staff lists, minutes, study notes, scrapbooks, ephemera, and photographs depicting aspects of social and administrative life at the hospital and school.

The collection is arranged into ten series that reflect original collections maintained by the RHHS, and are organized by media type or content. See the Arrangement note below for more information.

This series consists of publications and communications created by Riverview Hospital and related agencies, including the titles Association News - News of the Essondale Branch of the B.C. Government Employees Association; Connections; Insight - Riverview Hospital Staff Newsletter; the Leader; Mental Health Branch Newsletter, Mental Health Services News, Outasight, Riverview Hospital Review, the Provincial and the Riverview Hospital Volunteer Association.

Record types include letter size booklets and photocopies of publications.

This subseries consists of scholarly communications of Riverview Hospital staff as well as materials collected for the purposes of reference and future research. It was originally a division in the museum library collection.

Records include articles reprinted from medical and psychiatric journals, proceedings from symposia and conferences, and other scholarly publications used for reference.

This subseries consists of public relations communications about the history and development of Riverview Hospital made by the Province, privately owned television, and from the Hospital itself. It was originally a division in the museum library collection. This subseries shows aspects of life at Riverview Hospital from anecdotes of former employees, to land use surveys, and digitized videos of different hospital wings and buildings.

Record types include reports, pamphlets, a videocassette, and DVDs containing digitized materials.

Collection consists of an A.R.P. record book; a workbook and information for setting up a Welfare Centre Operation, annotated by W. Roy York; and three pamphlets dealing with the civil defence programme in 1960/61.

The fonds consists of a hospital register or log of admitted patients to the Royal Marine Hospital, Victoria, 1874-1878, listing name of patient, country of origin, ship, age, admitted date, discharged date, and number of days hospitalized.

Fonds consists of three scrapbooks of clippings and photographs of Inkster's career as chairman of the hospital board and coroner. Scrapbooks also include numerous clippings concerning accidents.

Fonds consists of 6 record series: Administrative records (1937-2000); Financial records (1993-2014); Media (1940-2010); Medical procedures and treatment records (1920-1996); Patient files (1904-2007); and Property records (1958-1997). The first accession of R.W. Large Memorial Hospital was received in 2017 and arranged and described by Kelly Rovegno. The majority of the BC Conference Archives holdings relate to early records regarding patients and medical procedures. Fonds also contains Dr. Darby’s medical notes.

The fonds consists of minutes, finance records, receipts, annual reports, and reference material of the Salmon Arm Branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society.

The fonds consists of records relating to Louise Wright's schooling in Ontario, her career at Brandon College and Tranquille Sanatorium, and her fruit growing interests in Naramata. Fonds includes personal correspondence; education certificate, college notebook, and autograph book; tax records; business records relating to her Naramata property; pamphlets providing dietary information; and, ephemera. Included in the fonds are two paintings done by Wright in 1894 and 1896. This series consists of records created and accumulated by the School of Psychiatric Nursing at Riverview Hospital. It includes administrative and financial records that informed the operation of the School, annuals (yearbooks) of each graduating class of the School, the publications accumulated from national psychiatric nursing organizations, as well as graduation and departmental photographs.

Record types in this series include manuals, reports, policies, handbooks, staff lists, event programmes and invitations, minutes, study notes, yearbooks, and publications.

The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, published materials, and other records documenting the programs and activities of the School of Social Work, its faculty, and its students.
