History
Rout Harvey came to Victoria in the 1860s. He originally worked in the wholesale department of J.H. Turner and Company, a wholesale and retail dry goods company. He later joined Turner Beeton and Company, where he worked first as a clerk and later as the company's manager. He was married to Susan Jane Harvey and had six sons and one daughter. From the mid-1880s until Rout Harvey's death in 1905, the family lived at Stoneyhurst, a house in the 1300 block of Rockland Avenue.
