        History

A one acre lot, part of Block 31, Map 593, as shown on plan B 3423 in Grindrod, BC, was purchased from Catherine Carlin in 1928 for the sum of $175 for a cemetery for the Ukrainian community. The deed was signed by trustees representing St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church: Mike Hawrys, Dmytro Elnicky, and Harry Mychalycyn on the 31 of August, 1928. The Grindrod Cemetery remains open, and is maintained by a committee of the residents of the community.
