        William Greenwood was born Sept.10, 1886. He was married March 4, 1916, to Iva Gwendolyn Bishop. They had 5 children: Fred, Lionel, Kenneth, Iva Alice and Kendall. One child, Kenneth, died of dysentry at age three years and is buried in the Lytton Highway cemetery. William joined the B.C. Provincial Police on the 26th day of June, 1913, and reported for duty to Senior Constable A. Grundy at Lytton on the 28th day of June, 1913. He served at Lytton during 1913-1914, and was then transferred to Ashcroft. From there he transferred to Lillooet, Hope, and then back to Lytton in 1922, where he stayed until 1927. In 1923, he was the first officer in B.C. to solve a case using the new fingerprint technology. In Lytton in 1924, he was appointed sub mining recorder. He was transferred from Lytton to Abbotsford in 1927. In 1928, he was appointed Registrar of Birth/Marriages/Deaths, in 1929 was transferred to Kaslo, 1930 transferred to Grand Forks, and finally, in 1931 he transferred to Oakalla jail, New Westminster where he worked until retirement in 1951. His family moved to Surrey in 1954. William and Iva celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1966. William died February, 1971.
