        History

The Grand Trunk Pacific Town and Development Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Grand Trunk Pacific, was incorporated on August 3, 1906 and organized on November 8, 1906 as a holding company for land acquired along the railway for homesteads, town sites and industries and for the operation of facilities other than transport. In January 1910 the name was changed to the Grand Trunk Pacific Development Company Limited. David Hunt Hays, brother of Charles Melville Hays, was the sole agent of the Grand Trunk Pacific Development Company. He conducted the land sales in Prince Rupert of the GTP lots after the land auction sales of May 1909 in Vancouver and Victoria.
