Scope and content
This subseries consists of approximately 425 drawings that Lyons used as the basis for his field guide illustrations. As such, they mainly feature botanical subjects like trees, shrubs, and flowers from British Columbia and Washington. Drawings are arranged numerically, which roughly correlates to their appearance in the publications. Due to the numerous revisions that Lyons' field guides went through, the page correlations cannot be determined precisely.

Several of Lyons' field guides are available in the Monographs subseries of this fonds contained in box 1, namely Trees, shrubs and flowers to know in British Columbia / C.P. Lyons. Vancouver, B.C.: Dent & Sons 1952. [No dj.]; Trees, shrubs and flowers to know in British Columbia / C.P. Lyons. Vancouver, B.C.: Dent & Sons 1976. 2nd rev. ed. Reprint; Trees, shrubs and flowers to know in British Columbia and Washington / C.P. Lyons [and] Bill Merilees. Vancouver, B.C.: Lone Pine 1995; and Wildflowers of Washington / by C.P. Lyons. Vancouver, B.C.: Lone Pine 1997.
The numbers and page numbers on the drawings do not seem to strictly correlate to the illustrations in his publications. This may be due to the numerous revisions his field guides went through and the numbers may related to an edition not represented in this fonds. General note: Please note that other field guides by Lyons are available in the University of Victoria Library. Please consult the library catalogue.
