Biographical history

In April 1912 people from Metropolitan Methodist Church, Victoria came to the Fairfield neighbourhood to start a Sunday School in the new residential area. In June 1912, the Moss Street Methodist Mission was begun. Later that year the name of the Moss Street Mission was changed to Fairfield Methodist Church, and by November 1912, the congregation was worshipping in the first of their church buildings. A more permanent church building was erected in 1921. With church union in 1925, Fairfield Methodist Church became Fairfield United Church.
