Biographical history

The Faculty Library Committee was established in 1953. Its mandate, approved by the College Council in 1953, was to advise and assist the Librarian in the following areas: formulating library policy regarding instruction and research; advising in the allocation of book funds to the various fields of instruction; developing a general program of library service for all the interest of the College; keeping the librarian informed concerning library needs of instructional staff; and assisting the librarian in interpreting the Library to the College. College Librarians include: Marjorie Griffin 1946-47; Edith Stewart 1947-48; Kathleen R. Matthews 1948-51; Douglas G.Lochhead 1951-52; Albert A.Spratt 1953-60; and Dean W.Halliwell 1960-63. Halliwell became the University Librarian at the University of Victoria in 1963.
