Biographical history

The Junior Forest Wardens were organized and directed by the Canadian Forestry Association of British Columbia in 1930 for boys ages 10 to 16. The prime objective was to teach forest conservation and develop a sense of personal responsibility for the wise use of woods, waters, soils and wildlife. The boys met once each week for training and practical experience in such subjects as elementary forest management, tree planting and thinning, first aid, forest fire prevention, insect and disease control, and soil, water and wildlife studies. A large summer camp was established at Evans Lake near Squamish and a smaller one at Silver Lake near Peachland. In 1958 the Kingfisher Junior Forest Wardens #203 was established. It was joined by the Ashton Creek Forest Wardens #204 and the Enderby Junior Forest Wardens #205 in 1963, and the Grindrod Forest Wardens in 1967. The Enderby Junior Forest Wardens #205 disbanded in 1969 when parent leaders were difficult to find.
