Administrative history

The Dept. of Forestry was established at the University of British Columbia within the Faculty of Applied Science in 1921. H.R. Christie became the first member and head of the department. He was joined by F. Malcolm Knapp in 1922. In 1935, the Dept. of Forestry changed emphasis from logging engineering to scientific engineering. In 1951, the Dept. of Forestry became the Faculty of Forestry.
