Name of creator
The Department of Animal Husbandry was established in the Faculty of Agriculture in 1917 and continued until superseded by the Department of Animal Science in the early 1950s. The function of the department was "to afford education and training in all matters pertaining to live stock to all those living in the province and seeking and applying for such education."
Scope and content
Fonds consists of correspondence, inventories, budgets, articles, clippings, printed material, awards, ownership papers, photographs, and an album pertaining to the administration of the Department of Animal Husbandry and judging competitions. Also includes materials regarding the livestock bred by the department and the much-acclaimed cattle herds.
Immediate source of acquisition
Most of the material came from the files of H.M. King who became department head in the early 1920s and continued in this capacity until 1952.
