History

Delbrook High School opened in 1957 with Mr. Siddons as principal. It developed a good academic program as well as active sports teams, especially in basketball and football, known as the Delbrook Hilltoppers. Their basketball team won four consecutive league championships, and in 1966-1967 compiled a 26-7 won-lost record. Musicals such as "South Pacific" also came to be presented annually. Shortly after midnight on Friday 28 January 1977 a fire started in the workshop on the lower floor, causing a total of 2 million dollars in damage. Students attended classes the rest of the year at Balmoral Junior Secondary on a shift system. Delbrook continued as a unique high school until 30 June, 1977, after which it ceased to exist. A reunion was held 18 June 1977.
