    Biographical history

Dr. Donald J. MacLaurin was appointed to the position of Vice President (Academic) in February 1972. In January 1973, on the recommendation of the Commission on Academic Governance, this position was split in two, Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, with MacLaurin holding both positions. Dr. John J. Dewey was appointed Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs at that time. Dr. MacLaurin resigned on June 30, 1973 and Dr. Dewey was appointed Dean of Academic Affairs as of July 1, 1973. He held that position until June 30, 1977, when the position was discontinued. The office was responsible for academic planning and development; research administration and coordination; and general supervision and direction of the registrar, institutional research, continuing education, summer session, counseling services and computing services. These records were created and accumulated by Dr. Dewey.
