The fonds consists of a collection of reference files created by Columbian staff members over a number of years. The files were accessed by staff members to provide information about a given person or subject. The content of these files is predominately black and white photographic prints and associated newspaper clippings. There are also other types of documents in the files such as pamphlets, circulars, assignment sheets, and memos. The fonds contains five series: People Files, Subject Files, and Sports Files, Sports Mug Shots, and New Westminster Today Photos. These records are sorted alphabetically except for the New Westminster Today photos which are filed chronologically.

The fonds consists of the following series: General office files, 1966-86; Media releases, 1978-95; Newspaper clippings, 1957-88; Special lectures correspondence and posters, 1988-97; and Videocassettes of special events. Copies of videocassettes of special lectures have been catalogued with the Film Library collection.

The series relates to Boire's involvement with several community organizations and initiatives in Maillardville. Firstly, it encompasses the records of Boire's time with the Maillardville Residents' Association (MRA), on its Maillardville revitalization and planning Task Force, which was instrumental for advocating for development activities. The series also contains records about the development of Place Maillardville, the Coquitlam Heritage Society, as well as the Vancity Maillardville Advisory Committee. Lastly, the series contains fliers, ephemera, and articles about events in Maillardville, including the Festival du Bois, and the 2009 Maillardville centenary.

Record types include agendas and minutes, correspondence, ephemera, brochures, newspaper articles, bulletins, and revitalization and development reports.

Series consists of records generated by the correspondence between Sorensen and family members, as well as emails between Sorensen and individuals from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre. Records include handwritten and typed letters, postcards, and emails. The letters and postcards were primarily typewritten on a typewriter, with two postcards being handwritten. The series includes an envelope addressed to Loesje Stein.

The fonds consists of photographs depicting people, places and events in the Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley areas.

The Archives holds the personal papers of the late Dallas W. Smythe (see fonds F-16), the first chair of SFU's Department of Communication Studies. Thomas H. Guback was a doctoral student of Dallas Smythe at the University of Illinois and maintained a professional relationship with Smythe for many years. Guback recently retired as a professor of communications, media studies, and advertising at the University of Illinois. He also served as a consultant in the area of the motion picture industry, and writes and hosts a television program on the Public Broadcasting System (PBS).

The collection consists of correspondence from or about Dallas Smythe, articles written by Dallas Smythe, copies of memorial lectures about Smythe, and photographs of Smythe at work and with his family.

The fonds consists of records arising from Smythe's activities with the University of California, Berkeley; the U.S. Central Statistical Board; the U.S. Department of Labor (Wage and Hour Division); the U.S. Federal Communications Commission; his academic work; and from his various personal activities. Fonds includes correspondence, teaching materials, publications, research materials, reports, written testimony, reference material, and other records.

The fonds comprises records created by Duke from approximately 1946 to 2006. They are related to all aspects of Duke’s life and career. Among other types of records, the fonds includes: drafts of Duke's articles, essays and speeches; personal and production photographs; annotated working scripts of various television and film productions; personal and administrative correspondence; legal records, personal and administrative correspondence pertaining to the takeover of CKVU-TV; awards; personal notes; journals; press clippings featuring work by and about Duke; ephemera collected by Duke; and audio/visual material.

Fonds consists of textual records created by Dave Kay and Dan McDonald while they researched and wrote historical newspaper columns, pamphlets, and books. Includes correspondence, publications, research materials, and clippings.

Fonds consists of records relating to Roberts's career at SFU. Includes correspondence, press releases, flyers, clippings, newsletters, publications, transcripts of speeches, notes, buttons, and cartoons and other artwork. Also includes a set of sound recordings made by Roberts while he was Director of the University News Service.

The fonds consists of photographs of businesses, panoramas, streets, people, and events in Vancouver, B.C. Many of the photographs were taken by Percy Bentley.

The fonds consists of photographs of the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway (ca. 1898-1900) and of the Copper River and Northwest Railroad (ca. 1920) in Alaska.

The fonds consists of Mr. Dunning's family and business records; records accumulated as a member of various community organizations; and documents, manuscripts, and photographs resulting from Edgar's work for the Delta newspaper, the Optimist, and his interest in Delta community events and history. Family records include correspondence and legal records regarding the property on 48th Avenue and Delta Street, as well as financial and educational certificates. A large series of memorabilia includes invitations and other ephemera, which Edgar accumulated as publisher and reporter for the Optimist and as active community member. Business records are largely from the Optimist printing business, and include examples of print products such as invitations, programs, letterheads, tickets, municipal reports, etc., which were printed for local people and businesses of Delta. A small series of Optimist newspaper records include lists of subscribers from the 1940s. The fonds includes a sample of Edgar's writings for the Optimist on historical topics, plus a larger group of manuscripts that have been edited by him in his capacity as editor of the Optimist and as an interested and knowledgeable local historian. The fonds also consists of minutes of meetings, correspondence, reports, etc. accumulated by Edgar as a member of the Delta Community Band, various centennial committees, the Delta Historical and Museum Society, and other organizations. Edgar is a talented amateur photographer, and his photograph collection reflects his work as a reporter and his interest in the people and events of Delta. The collection consists of material compiled by Elsie Allan concerning theatre in Victoria and other locations in B.C. and in England. The collection includes notebooks of annotated scripts, scripts of plays, announcements and notices of meetings of the Victoria Theatre Guild, programmes of amateur and professional performances in Victoria, New York, and England, and programmes of the British Columbia, Dominion, Kelowna, and Vancouver Island Drama Festivals.
