Included among the subjects documented in the papers are: Schroeder's published and unpublished fiction and nonfiction works, including short prose, novellas, poems, translations, a prison memoir, literary columns, and feature articles; production of documentaries for the CBC radio show "Ideas"; publication of the literary magazine of translation "Contemporary Literature in Translation"; the author's nine-month prison sojurn; the founding of the League of Canadian Poets and the Writers' Union of Canada; and, the establishment of the Public Lending Rights Commission of Canada.

Also includes Paul Leynard's (Arthur's father) membership card for the X-Ray Association of Employees of Western Fuel Company and certificate for free use of the X-ray machine and a letter to Arthur from Hiram Gough in native "trade language".
