The Committee to Action Nanaimo initiated and coordinated a physical education program in Nanaimo schools emphasizing inclusive, non-competitive activity. The program was established in 1975 as a project for International Women's Year by the University Women's Club of Nanaimo, the Nanaimo Council of Women, and the Nanaimo District Council of Education, in conjunction with School District No. 68. The program was created in accordance with the principles of Action B.C., a non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting increased physical activity and nutritional awareness.
