Coast Grain & Feed Co. Ltd. was founded in 1914 by Glasgow-born Charles Osborne Stuart, who also acted as manager. His business partner was Hector MacKenzie, and later Thomas M. Mennie. The company, which was located at 1001 East Pender St., closed around 1934 or 1935 due to bankruptcy.

Ltd. containing mintues of meetings as well as documents which include the following: meeting notices, resolutions, financial statements, banking and borrowing bylaws (1921, 1925, 1928, 1929). Fonds also includes a short biographical sketch of company owner Charles O. Stuart, prepared by his daughter, Sybil A. MacFarlane.
