        History

The Co-ordinating Committee of the History of Medicine in BC was struck by the Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC in association with The University of British Columbia’s Department of History of Medicine and Science, and the BCMA. The Committee, chaired by Dr. Wallace Wilson, was conceived to oversee a project to publish a history of medicine in the province. Dr. John H. McDermott served as the Editor in Chief and spent many years compiling research for the publication. However, McDermott’s final manuscript was deemed unsuitable for publication and the Committee turned to Dr. Theodore F. Rose to complete the work. Dr. Rose completed the manuscript but it never appeared in print.
