Biographical history

The Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Brigade (C.V.F.B.) was founded in approximately 1925. It provided the first fire fighting service to the community of Cloverdale. Initially, funding came from donations and fundraising events in the community, until in the 1950s, the City of Surrey gradually took over the financing and management of all fire halls. The volunteer brigade, headed by a volunteer fire chief, continued alongside the paid staff. The C.F.V.B. was actively involved in community life, and the development of regional and local fire fighting associations, such as the Surrey Firemen's Association, and the Volunteer Fire Fighters Association of B.C. The volunteer brigade continues to be active presently.
