The City of Victoria Archives is the official repository for all civic records of permanent value to the City of Victoria. Community records (also called "private" or "non-governmental" records) that document the history and development of Victoria are also acquired by the Archives through donation. Some of the larger bodies of records (or "fonds") include the Victoria Commonwealth Games Society archives, the business records of W & J Wilson Clothiers, and the photographs of Harry Upperton Knight. The Archives also has an extensive photograph and map collection, a large set of city directories, and a reference library. The Archives also administers the Records Management program of the City of Victoria.
