      The Canadian Mathematical Congress was formed in 1945. The founders of the Mathematical Congress hoped that the organization would be dedicated to developing Maths in Canada. However, it was incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization in 1978, and its name changed to the Canadian Mathematical Society.
