        Anna Cail was born in 1911 in Vernon to parents, Clarence Fulton and Thekla Reinhard Fulton. She graduated in Honours English at UBC and taught school in Kelowna and Vernon for eight years. In 1947, she was awarded a scholarship for a year's study at the University of London in England. Her long and distinguished career as a devoted teacher was followed by an equally intense interest in preserving the built heritage of the North Okanagan. Anna married Robert Cail in 1951.
