    Biographical history

The British Columbia Market Company was incorporated in 1895 by Percival R. Brown, F. Walter Galpin, and John Irving to acquire the Victoria and Vancouver butcher operations of the Western Canadian Ranching Company. The firm acted as retail and wholesale butchers and bought most of their livestock from the two aforementioned companies. The goods and chattels of the company were sold to E.E. Welch and Edward V. Johnson in about 1910, and some of its real estate was sold or transferred to the Western Canadian Ranching Company.
