Biographical history
Boyce Geddes was born in Kelowna, B.C. He received his Associate Diploma in piano teaching from the Toronto Conservatory of Music in 1934 and that year established a teaching studio in Union Theological College at UBC. He attended Vancouver Normal School from 1937 to 1938. He obtained a B.Mus. from the University of Oregon in 1942 and a Master's in composition from the University of Washington in 1955. In 1946 he began teaching at the Provincial Normal School in Victoria and taught music there until it merged with Victoria College in 1956; he then taught music at Victoria College and later at the University of Victoria, resigning in 1967. From 1967 to 1974, he worked in Campbell River and Courtenay as Intermediate Supervisor and later as Director of Instruction.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of music course outlines and examination papers (1950-1967), musical scores (1953-1956); programs, slides, and audio tapes of concerts at Victoria Normal School, Victoria College and the University of Victoria; and, historical outline of post-secondary music programs in Victoria, with photographs, text and original scores by Gaddes.
