        History

Andy Bigg has been a photo journalist since 1932. He emigrated to British Columbia from Brighton, Sussex in 1948, with his wife and three children. From 1960-66, he was involved in two Port Alberni newspapers: from 1960-63, he was editor of the West Coast Advocate; and from 1963-66 he was the Production Advertising Editor of the Twin Cities Times. During this time he led a campaign against the MacMillan Bloedel and Powell River Pulp and Paper Mill, Alberni Division, to force them to clean up the environmental pollution created by the mill. The campaign received national CBC coverage on "This Hour Has Seven Days," and resulted in a formal report submitted to the BC Provincial Government.
