Burnett, Erskine
EDM-3726 (Enderby) · Person · 1878-1951

Erskine Burnett (1878-1951) emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1897. He moved to the Coldstream Valley near Vernon, B.C. about 1910 and became a successful fruit farmer on Aberdeen Road.

Burnett married Alice Ruth Gurney in1921 and the couple had two children: Kenneth and Frances Ruth. Frances married Richard Eric Parkinson of Nanaimo in 1949.

Burnett also had a cottage and a peach orchard near Oliver. His interests included photography and traveling throughout the interior of British Columbia. He compiled two different photograph albums of his travels and created a script to accompany each photograph, explaining the history of the people and places, together with his own reminiscences. Burnett made copies, using carbon copy for the typed script, and gave them to family and friends. Erskine Burnett drowned in the Okanagan River in 1951.
