History

The Westview Light, Power and Waterworks District was started in 1930 by the Westview Ratepayers Progressive Association and was run by trustees. Funds were raised by the Westview residents and a lighting system and a water system began, bringing in water from springs around the streets of Joyce Ave and Alberni St. The organization merged with the Squatters Creek Water Users Community. With the advent of the amalgamation of Westview, Wildwood, Cranberry and the Townsite in 1955, the Westview Light, Power and Waterworks District became dormant.
