Biographical history
Western Forest Products acquired the assets of Rayonier Canada in 1983, which had owned Alaska Pine and Cellulose. Alaska Pine had previously owned British Columbia Sulphite Fibre Company and Empire Pulp and Paper Mills which were all owned by Whalen Pulp and Paper Mills.

The fonds consists of minute books of the British Empire Sulphite Fibre Company, Empire Pulp and Paper Mills and minute books, correspondence and documents of the Whalen Pulp and Paper Mills. The fonds also consists of records of the B.C. Pulp and Paper Company, Canadian Puget Sound Lumber Company, Trans Pacific Lumber Company, and Pioneer Lumber Company. Fonds includes photographs of Western Forest Products.
