Victor B. Harrison was an alderman in Nanaimo in 1923 and later became Mayor for 1925-1926. As notary public, he helped local citizens to make application to the B.C. government to receive crown land grants under the Vancouver Island Settler's Rights Act, amended in 1917.
The fonds consists primarily of applications, affidavits and correspondence regarding granting of crown grants to Nanaimo-area residents. Applications were processed in 1917, but include information about early settlers and the social aspects of their lives.
