Biographical history
Duncan Stewart was a contractor for the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway Company and came to Cowichan Lake in 1912 to build the railway station. His wife was born Jennie Bishop. The Stewarts had two children. Jennie Stewart served as a trustee on the Cowichan Lake School Board.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of photographs of the Stewart family depicting the family home, family members, and community scenes in Lake Cowichan and area. Photographs include those depicting the railways and railroad stations in Lake Cowichan.
