St. Mary the Virgin Parish (Somenos, B.C.)
Biographical history
St. Mary the Virgin was built in 1875, being part of a larger Cowichan parish with the centre at St. Peter, Quamichan. In 1909 the parish was divided, leaving St. Mary, Somenos, paired with St. John the Baptist, Duncan, in a new parish. The church closed in 1970 and the building was moved to Port Renfrew.

Fonds consists of parish registers, vestry records, financial records, womens organizations records, building committee records, photographs, and related documentation and correspondence. Parish registers include: baptisms (1914-1959), confirmations (1926-1952), marriages (1914-1962), burials (1914-1963), and services (1914-1968).
