    Biographical history

Occasional Methodist services began in Quesnel as early as 1868 and was part of the Barkerville Circuit. Presbyterian work in the Cariboo began with the visit of the Rev. G. A. Wilson to the Cariboo in 1894. Since that time, Presbyterian services were held fairly regularly over the following years. A little "union church" was built in Quesnel in 1895 and was used by all the denominations. The Cariboo field of the Presbyterian Church, like the Methodist Circuit, covered a widespread area from Barkerville to Clinton, with its centre in Quesnel. In 1911, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church opened their own church building. With church union in 1925, the Methodist and Presbyterian churches amalgamated to form St. Andrew's United Church. While the St. Andrew's Pastoral Charge has included several very small communities such as Australian;(B.C.) and Woodpecker (B.C.) as preaching points over the years, at present, it is a one point Charge.
