    Administrative history

The first Presbyterian services were held in the Alberni area in 1886, followed by the establishment of a mission station by ca. 1891. A church building was erected in 1892. In 1925 St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church entered church union becoming St. Andrew's United Church. From 1932 to 1946 St. Andrew's congregation and First United Church congregation in Port Alberni were combined in one pastoral charge. From 1946 to 2000, St. Andrew's was a single point pastoral charge, but in June of 2001, St. Andrew's United Church and First United Church became a two point Alberni Valley Pastoral Charge. In 2002, the two congregations were amalgamated into the First United Church building with the name Alberni Valley United Church.
