History
Dr. Geoffrey Robinson was born in 1921. He received his MD from Queen's University in 1945, specializing in paediatrics, and opened his practice in Vancouver. He joined the Faculty of Medicine at UBC in 1954 and became the director of the Outpatient Department of the Health Care Centre for Children of Vancouver General Hospital. In 1975, he was the Medical Director of the BC Children's Hospital Diagnostic Centre. His research interests pertain to issues relating to handicapped children (particularly deafness and blindness), the experiences of children and adolescents in hospitals (particulary emergency room care), and the economics of paediatric care, focussing on the use of alternative treatment methods, such as day care surgery, to reduce utilization of paediatric health care resources.
