Harding, Rene (1902-2004)

Biographical history

Rene Harding (nee Howes) was a pioneer of Vancouver Island and was a resident of Comox from 1935 to 2004. She wrote for the Comox Valley Green Sheet as well as other local publications. She was the curator of the Courtenay Museum for many years and well known as a local historian.

Custodial history

Fonds were donated to the Comox Archives and Musuem and Museum by Rene Harding and daughter and son in law John and Jackie Holmes (nee Harding).

Scope and content

The contents of the fonds consist of photographs of early pioneer people, buildings and scenery of the Comox area. Fonds also include emphera on local events as well as four scrapbooks containing newspaper articles she wrote and other historical writings of interest.
