History

Norma Morton was born and raised in the Comox Valley. She attended the University of Victoria where she met and married Keith Morton. Norma and Keith were among the first members of the Comox-Strathcona Natural History Society established 1965. Norma worked under noted amateur ornithologist Theed Pearse who wrote Birds of the Early Explorers in the Northern Pacific. Norma Morton collaborated with Elizabeth Brooks on a study of the Trent River Estuary and continues to be an active naturalist in conservation issues, bird counts, botany surveys as well as maintaining and sharing her intimate knowledge of flora and fauna of the Comox Valley.
